20 Fuß - Mit Containern über die Weltmeere

- the length of a standard container has become the prevailing measurement in global trade. Coffee or bananas, TVs or machinery, textiles or computers, any and all are being transported in containers from door to door. Photographer Sabine Vielmo (Hamburg) has accompanied container vessels on their voyages around the globe. Her photographs taken aboard the vessels acquaint the lay person with the intricacies of merchant shipping and provide realistic counterpoints to enduring stereotypes associated with this trade. The book was published in 2008 as part of a comprehensive special exhibition in Deutsche Schiffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven featuring the work by Sabine Vielmo.

Unilever Haus

Hafencity Hamburg

The building housing the company headquarters of Unilever was designed by Behnisch architects (Stuttgart) and constructed between 2007-2009. It is the recipient of numerous awards. The seven story office complex is located directly at Strandkai with unrestricted views over Hamburg's fantastic harbour scene. Its walled courtyards and open terraces leading down to Elbe river are accessible to the public and both have turned into a magnet for national and international visitors. Sabine Vielmo has captured on photographs the development of the building from beginning to end. The result is a construction journal with honest portraits and highly detailed and persuasive architectural photography. It offers a crisp visualization of all the complex structural components of the building.
